Smiley Building Services was founded in 2003 by Bassem El-Sokkary — known to most customers and colleagues simply as Smiley. More than two decades on, the company is still owner-run, still based in the same South Norwood / Croydon premises at 202 Woodside Green, and still working primarily through word-of-mouth referrals from Croydon, Bromley, Beckenham and West Wickham homeowners.
Almost every Smiley project is managed personally by Bassem — the same person who quotes the job is on site checking the work. That direct accountability is the reason our customers keep recommending us to neighbours and to family. We do not operate as a sales office that passes work to subcontractors; the team you meet at the site survey is the team that builds the project.
